Advisory Referendum on Health Care
Reform Legislation

 

The Health Care Reform Bill that is presently before Congress will dramatically affect every American, yet the American people do not have a direct say on this life changing Legislation.

We, the Coalition for National Referendum, believe that BEFORE the Health Care Reform Bill is voted on by Congress there should be a National Advisory Referendum on this Legislation.

Without a direct voice on this Legislation every American may be giving the Government a right to decide their Medical Care, including "end of life care." Would anybody allow these medical decisions to be made without a direct say on their own care? The answer is a resounding NO.

There are those that would say that this Legislation is too complex to be voted on by the American people. However, over twenty-five (25) Countries including Canada, Italy, Ireland, France and the United Kingdom have held National Referendums. Many of these National Referendums were on issues more complex than the Health Care Reform Bill.

On October 15, 2005 Iraq held a National Binding Referendum on it's Federal Constitution which consisted of 139 Articles (Sections). The people of Iraq voted to Adopt this Constitution. (Source: The Washington Post, October 12, 2005)
